Review: On The Other Side* | Carrie Hope Fletcher

Words cannot express how brilliant this book is.

When I opened this package and a little orange sweet dropped onto my lap I had no idea of the significance but I can now say that I will never think of these sugary gems in the same way. In On The Other Side Carrie has managed to create the most stunning, heart-wrenching, beautiful world which I fell head over heels in love with every word I read.

From the first page I was drawn in to the skilfully crafted world Ms Fletcher has constructed. There is a fantastic mix of true realism with twinkles of magic and fantasy. The characters are extremely likeable with deep backstories and personalities that you can't help but become emotionally connected to.

Carrie of course has a lot of young fans so they will most likely be the main audience but this is by no means a young adult book. The writing style and brilliant approach to serious and emotional issues are definitely to be enjoyed by adult readers too. Although the story is highly emotional, there are also extremely humorous and witty lines as well as a lot of mentions of tea.... what else would we expect from Carrie?!

For me I know when a book is good because I just can't stop thinking about it. I read the last page about a week ago and I still find myself thinking back to it throughout the day now. For this being Carrie's first fiction release its one of the most triumphant debuts I've ever read!

I didn't want to write a long review because I really don't want to give too much away about the story and I worry that it will just turn into a babbling fangirl session so in short, this is my number one book of 2016 and you should definitely rush to your local bookshop to pick up a copy and binge read it. The whole novel is just beautiful, it will leave you feeling warm, content, happy, sad, joyful and so many more emotions but its so worth the emotional rollercoaster.
